Mike Calinoff is the owner and trainer behind Doglogics Training & Socialization and a three-time recipient of the “Best Dog Trainer on Lake Norman” award (2023, 2024, 2025).
 

Known for his practical, no-nonsense approach, Mike specializes in helping dogs and families navigate real-world challenges — especially reactivity, aggression, and impulse control. His Practical Positive Development™ method focuses on clear communication, structure, and results, and is trusted and recommended by veterinarians throughout the Lake Norman area.

Mike is the author of three #1 New Release training guides — Rescue Logic, Leash Connection, and Winning With Your Puppy — each designed to simplify dog training and give owners a clear path forward without the fluff.

Most days, you’ll find him working hands-on with clients across Lake Norman from morning to evening, often alongside his dogs — Goldendoodles Wyatt and Larry, and Cockapoo Lainee.

Mike has had a long and successful career in NASCAR as a spotter, earning three championships (2003, 2011, 2012) and two Daytona 500 wins (2009, 2012) with Matt Kenseth and Ricky Stenhouse Jr..

Earlier in his career, he performed stand-up comedy at venues like Catch a Rising Star and The Comedy Store — and that sense of humor still carries into his work today. Because while training should be effective and straightforward, it doesn’t have to be boring.
